There was a time when Kashan was world-famous as the City of Silk, with thousands of silk and velvet looms clicking away throughout its alleys. The revival of this ancient art was one of the original dreams and purposes of Manouchehri House. After more than a decade, with the support of late masters and eager, talented students, this dream is well underway: the Manouchehri complex currently houses an operating velvet loom, a gold brocade loom, a silk handloom and two silk/ cotton handlooms, in addition to a training facility with one velvet and one cotton handloom. Guests and visitors can interact with weavers, observe their artistry, and support their valuable contribution by either ordering or directly purchasing both textiles and textile products from the Manouchehri Art Shop.
