Our Story

The vast entrance way of the second Manouchehri House is home to the Manouchehri Textile Museum - MTM,  a passage carefully designed and built to display selected pieces of the Manouchehri Textile Collection. This private collection, acquired over multiple decades and still growing, aims to preserve the magnificent art of traditional Persian textile manufacturing for future generations of weavers, embroiderers, designers as well as the general public.

The inspiration for this collection stems from the inherent desire to preserve, restore, repurpose and re-adapt the magnificent (and often overwhelming) historical and cultural heritage of Iran, large portions of which have either been lost due to negligence, or left the country to international audiences.

Despite the rich selection of antique Persian textiles which are known throughout the world for their technical and artistic value, the country is still subject to a palpable lack of local research and dedicated institutions in this field. After decades of targeted collection, we are now slowly embarking on an ambitious mission to provide a space where the ancient art of Persian textiles can be experienced, revived, researched and re-adapted to a contemporary environment.

A space where masters, learners, weavers, researchers, students, professionals, or simply lovers of textiles can find inspiration from our roots, and carry their beauty and wisdom forward into the future.
